Overhauling.... new hardware
I think I'm going to go with the Faber Tone-Lock system on my 08' Traditional. Tone-Lock kit with the TP-59' tailpiece, Tone-Lock bridge... all in nickel
While I'm at it I want to replace the chrome pickup covers on the 57' Classics with nickel. Anyone know what year Gibson started using chrome hardware instead of nickel? Just curious.

Re: Overhauling.... new hardware
Hope it works out for ya! I hated the Faber stuff. Combined with 50's wiring and the overly bright tone of their hardware was treble overkill. My ears are still ringing

Food for thought... thanks.
Did you do anything about yours or just living with it? I'll do some more research on the TonePros.

Re: Overhauling.... new hardware
I changed everything back to stock (except the 50's wiring). I had their aluminum tailpiece, 59 Bridge and even the conversion studs. My god, those conversion studs were a bitch to remove, plus the saddles on their bridge will never sit still and will always rattle. Always.
If you still feel the need to upgrade your hardware I strongly recommend anything made by Tonepros. Sure, their locking bridges are identical to the standard production Nashville bridge (manufactured by Schaller, btw), except with two set screws. I have Tonepros locking Tune-o-matics on all of my Lesters and I honestly think it makes a difference in resonance and string definition. I haven't tried their locking tailpiece studs yet, but I hear they are to die for. |

Cool, one less thing to do. Hardware will be here tomorrow. Ordered the Faber Tone-Lock Kit with the 59' tailpiece, and the Tone-Lock Bridge with stainless steel bridge studs. I want to make some sound clips, before and after. Parts should be here tomorrow, I hope.
