Also, I find that folding a strip of toilet paper or soft fabric around the end of the strings, on the part wrapped around the tuning pegs, really helps prevent premature rusting.

Good luck!
I can't tell if you're serious our joking.

Take off the strings every couple of days? I'd rather give up guitar altogether.

Atomic - that post was hilarious!! Funniest thing I have read on here in ages!!

Electric Sunshine - lucky for you there was no sort of common sense test to get your free guitar.

And on behalf of the other Australians on this forum - we are not all this, well, I was looking for a softer way to put this....stupid. But after all, he is from Brisbane......

Judging by the strings that are affected believe you are string them in the incorrect order. It is not commonly known that magnetism can cause rust (have you seen old iron magnets? they are all rusty). The magnetic fields around the strings require you to string from Low E to High E that in the northern hemisphere in order to assure correct alignment of the fields. But you since you are south of the equator you need to string High E to Low E.

I keep a microfiber cloth in my case and wipe the strings and gold hardware every time before I put my guitar in the case. I hit em' with Finger Ease too every now and then.
