Almost got the pedal board sussed..
Been building this one up for a few months now and it's almost at a stage where I'm happy with it.... just got to decide on a DD3 or DD7 for the end of the line to replace the Behringer EM600 delay that I picked up on Ebay for 40 bucks last year. Don't laugh the EM600 is a beauty some of the sounds you can get out of it are awesome particularly with the stereo outputs going to 2 amps but it's just too damn noisy on or off...
Anyway in sequence: Boss TU-2 Dunlop Zakk Wah Dunlop Rotovibe MXR EVH Phase 90 MXR Wylde OD Boss GE-7 Boss CE-5 (stereo outs to the EM600's stereo in's) Behringer EM600 (stereo outs to 1 or 2 amp/s) All powered by the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus which is awesome - 8 independent outputs no noise at all (cept when the EM600 is in the circuit) and saves a heap of dollars and hassle on batteries.... all velcroed onto a neat case just gotta snap the lid on and away you go... take the lid off plug the guitar into the TU-2 and the out/s to an amp or 2 and you got sound.....sweeeet sound... I flogged all my pedals 15 years ago got sick of the hassle with them all but with this setup I'm a born again pedalphile..... Any feedback on the DD3 or DD7 much appreciated... I see from HC that the DD3 is loved by all who own one but limited in spec while the DD7 has more bits but has mixed reviews particularly with noise...but it does have stereo in's and out's which is pulling me towards it..... This is all going in the front end of the amp/s with no tone suck and limited noise (cept when the EM600 is in the circuit). The loop drains too much effect for my liking - kind of defeats the purpose.

I have a Line 6 DL4 that is great, but takes up a lot of space on my board. It's been demoted to the floor next to the board... ![]() Will |

I love my MXR Carbon Copy. It's hard to beat for $150. Or see if you can find an Aqua Puss/Boss DM-2 clone.

Re: Almost got the pedal board sussed..
An MXR Carbon Copy will not give you what the Boss DD3 or DD7 do. The repeats will be neither as clear nor as loud.
The CC is fine for ambient and general atmospheric effects. But it's really not good enough for stuff that uses the delayed signal as the basis for rhythm or harmony parts.

Re: Almost got the pedal board sussed..
Thanks fella's
Yep the DD-7 does have the tap tempo not sure if I'd use is that much although I suppose it could come in handy. It can be controlled by another mini pedal/switch which plugs straight into the DD-7 although I'm not sure if it only sets the tempo once the tap is on or if it can turn the tap on or off as well? I checked out the Carbon Copy and they sound sweet as but kind of looking for stereo in & outs and a few extra bits and pieces so I suppose that excludes the DD-3 as well. The DD-7 also has an analogue (modelling) option so fairly versatile. Definately leaning towards the DD-7 at this stage. Will c how cool do those DL4's look - plenty of bling on them as well but alas I'm limited with room on the board... One thing I didn't mention above was that the MXR Zakk OD is a great booster but bloody noisy when it's on but I generally only use it for lead boost so not so much of a problem. I'm now thinking about a Fulltone OCD V4 those things seem to be the ducks nuts of overdrives? J-Man the external dimensions of the case are 715mm (28 inches) x 320mm (12.5 inches) and with the lid on is about 120mm (5 inches) thick. Take half an inch of those for internal dimensions. I was going to make my own but then saw this one ready to go with velcro and all at the local geetar shop for 90 bucks so thought what the hell less tool time and more guitar time. Here's some pics with the lid on, pretty sure Ebay has similar units. ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheers |

Re: Almost got the pedal board sussed..
get one of these things for tap tempo.
![]() the tap tempo will always be ready to dial in the tempo, needless to activate the built in tap first.
