Tuners

Anyone have any particular brand of tuners that they prefer? I've heard Schaller is a really good brand, but i personally don't know a difference from one to another.

Re: Tuners

My experience with Gibson Deluxe Tuners that were put on by the previous owner have been very pleasant. After my Epiphone Les Paul was set up and all I would only have to tune my guitar once a week or so (and that's with the cheap plastic nut).

Hope that helps some.

Re: Tuners

I have the Gibson Deluxe tuners on my Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded and they stay in tune without any problem.
Otherwise i´d get these Grover http://www.grotro.com/Mainlockingroto.html without a doubt.
They´re 10mm while the Gibson Deluxe tuners are 8.7mm.
Vintage vs Modern sort of

Re: Tuners

I've never had tuners on a non-Chinese made guitar (Epiphone excluded - as their Grovers are fine) that NEEDED replaced. Most tuning issues are coming from the nut. Which guitar are you talking about?

Re: Tuners

I've never had issues with guitars going out of tune... BUT, I will say that Grover 18:1s make it much easier to get dialed in. Cheap tuners make it kind of a bitch to get the tuning dead on, but they do seem to hold pretty well once you get there.

Why are you seeking new tuners?
