Re: Les Paul Junior fretboard to strings distance
hehe that is what I meant to say but I just wanted to hear some references from other musicians in order to try them on my own model. Actually, I must give it to a specialist since there is buzz no matter with less or more action.
Frankly, I never questioned myself in this matter. I just did the height I felt comfortable with and considered the lower and higher e string to be at the same height. Now, I've begun to enlighten myself by reading miscellaneous threads in order to achieve a better understanding. Maybe somebody can give me something to take along with. Re: Les Paul Junior fretboard to strings distance
welcome to the forum.
I don't have an 80's Jr. but the date really shouldn't matter. The string height is really up to the person setting up the guitar and who plays it. All my guitars have similar action but I really don't measure the actual height other than tone and feel. I simply set my action as low as I can without buzzing on any string at any fret. I you can't get the action low you have several things that can cause your problem of buzzing. You can alter the bridge saddle height, the nut height, fret height/leveling and the fretboard action by increasing or decreasing bow on the neck via your trussrod. For your guitar to play well and not buzz all those things must be fairly well adjusted. If any are off the wrong way you will fight fret buzz all the time. |

Re: Les Paul Junior fretboard to strings distance
Thanks for the affectionate reception/ hearty welcome
I used to get attacked from the very beginning, but that's not the case here though !Though I altered the bridge height to various positions, I didn't get rid of the buzz. I have to have less action in order to play all the alternate pickings of my songs. Regularly, I play the ernie ball regular slim strings on the lpj. Maybe there's a problem with the string thickness? you mentioned the bow decrease on the neck via trussrod but these are things I don't tinker around at, cause I don't know how to do it. I guess I can't bypass the visit of a guitar workshop. |
