weird problem with my expensive Vovox cable

I use one Vovox instrument cables ( 6 metre guitar ). I bought it from Thomann.de and it sounded a bit weak to me lately. I checked with my tester and the tester tells me there is some continuity / resistence when I did the test putting one terminal of the meter on the tip and the other in contact with the "body" of the plug. I expected no resistence at all but it measured some. Not an usual scenario.
I have not modified or touched the cable in any way. What's happening here??

Re: weird problem with my expensive Vovox cable

Take it back to the shop you purchased it from, and have them check it.

Re: weird problem with my expensive Vovox cable

I bought it from Germany ( mail order ) and I live in Spain although at this very minute I am looking over the Isle fo Wight in the UK
So taking it back it's not an option.

Re: weird problem with my expensive Vovox cable

If you twist cables a lot they fray internally and eventually open.
Is it a solid core or strands?

Re: weird problem with my expensive Vovox cable

I haven't twisted the cable at all.... In fact I haven't even gigged with it once.

Well, you should SEND it back then! We can't fix it for you.
Good luck.

Re: weird problem with my expensive Vovox cable

this was last time I used it:

I was recording some tracks with this Dave Stephens VL PAF loaded SG and my SE amp.

BTW, I've got some reply from Vovox. I'll keep you posted.

Re: weird problem with my expensive Vovox cable

Hi Hilario. Hopefully Vovox or Thomann should sort you out. How much was this cable?

How's the IOW? I'll give you a wave from the mainland.

I sure wish I had that kind of money to piss away.

I;m guitar-cord-amp man so getting a really good cable makes a lot of sense. As long as it works, that is.

Yikes! That's a lot of bread for a dodgy cable. Hope they sort it for you.

You're just down the road from me. I've never been to Lymington.

Definitely sounds like you have a fault. With not having gigged with it at all, and the appearance that you take care of the equipment that you have, I would suspect that the fault may lie within the connectors of the cable. If it is easy to do, open the end connectors and examine them for an errant wire that may have connected between the center conductor and shield. It could even be a faulty solder joint which is easily repairable. Anyway, its an easy check if you can get the connectors open without "voiding the warranty."

Later,

I've got a mail from vovox and they seem to agree to have the cable repaired for me.
I'm sending it to Germany as soon as I get back from England.
