need help with maximizing sustain
![]() you know how when your compressor is not set up right, it'll sustain well for the first few seconds but then it'll make a sudden drop in volume and die down quickly? get what i'm saying? (i'm not sure if this applies to all compressors since i'm kinda speaking of the compressor in my ME-50 .. other compressors might not have this problem )but yeah basically, ..... put simply .... in other words ..... it DOESN'T sustain like it's supposed to.. ![]() is there any general principle on how to set it up to maximize the sustain? any tips or tricks? ![]() help please?

Re: Maximizing sustain?
also, i should also probably mention that i use it WITH the ME-50's noise suppressor as well.. it probably has something to do with it.. although let me just say that if i didn't use the suppressor and it sustains well BUT is noisy as hell, then it's still a problem.. help?

Re: Maximizing sustain?
What controls do they give you for that compressor? Is it just a level and ratio type thing, or does it have knobs for attack, release ect...
If its just a ratio thing, crank the level control and set the ratio or compression knob to around 1:00 - 2:00 for max sustain without too much compression so your picked notes don't go PANG!

Re: Maximizing sustain?
a compressor will also raise the noise to more audible levels.....maybe try using the noise supressor before the compressor if possible.....filter the noise before it gets to the compressor...

I don't use noise gates at all, and my compressor is always my first pedal as to not increase the noise of other pedals in the chain. Always sounds great! |
