truss rod???

hey there guys,gotta question:a friend of mine brought his Cort headless bass over to me to do some overhaulin' on the electronics,he also asked me to try and fix the neck(serious backbow).I just popped the cap off and it looks like the damn nut on the rod is cranked clear into the wood.I've GENTLY tried to work it,but,the f*&^% thing wont budge.any advice on this

He may have to find somebody with a heat press, Is the neck bound or un bound?
Try spraying some WD 40 or Liquid Wrench on the nut?
I learned another trick sometimes applying a tad of pressure,( after the lube) then losening , working the nut back and forth, LOL This worked on big navy guns many times !
