Re: picks!?!?!?!

I used to use the little 1.5 and 2.0 mm jazz picks. Fine for lead, but I found them useless for acoustic. I ended up going back to garden-variety, meat and potatoes, common as muck Jim Dunlop 1.0 mm nylon. I can get them (nearly) everywhere, and they're suitable for everything. No mess no fuss no thinking involved.

The black nylon 1.0 mm is like the white business shirt of picks. You just pick it up and it will go with everything.

Re: picks!?!?!?!

I became obsessed with V Picks for awhile... but now I'm back to favoring the yellow Dunlops. The V Picks have a great feel and tone, but they just lack the control I get with a more standard pick.

That's my main choice--but I also use 1.14 gator Grips (Blue) and a fw other types.
I tend to use 1.14 whenever possible though, and I've also been using my fingers more often lately.

I use Dunlop Teck picks (aluminum) on my 12 string.

But overall--thick picks that don't bend are my favorite.

Re: picks!?!?!?!

I use very thin picks most of the time. When I want a thick, muted tone, I switch to my index fingernail.

Mainly Dunlop Tortex .88mm green. Occasionally nylon Dunlop Picks, for fast metal palm muting, and for solos Dunlop Gator Grip 1.0mm
