New Peterson iPhone Stuff
The app is cheap, the adapter is cheap - the iPhone not so much. This is cool though:
Peterson Strobe Tuners - iStroboSoft? for the iPod touch® and iPhone? I'm a fan of Peterson stuff. |

Re: New Peterson iPhone Stuff
Sweet! I do have an iPod Touch second gen...
This is misleading though because that cable doesn't even exist yet. So basically you can only use it with the onboard microphone on your iPhone, or with a third party mic for the iPod. If they ever actually do have a real cable for it, I doubt it will look like that anyway. They have it plugged in to the headphone port. It will need to plug into the charging/accessories port in the middle which is a thin, long retangular port in the middle. In fact, if that cable in the pic was what you actually needed you could just pick up an adapter just like that at Radio Shack. Cool idea, but I'm still skeptical as to them actually making a cable for it. |

They are marketing this too: Peterson Strobe Tuners - Peterson Strobe Tuners Online Store .. a mic that appears to plug in to the 'headphone jack'. I think you're right though, a friend of mine was going to get in to some iPhone - audio app development - and mentioned something about needing a special cable - and was kind of aggravated by Apples dearth of documentation (that they'd share anyway)! I'll have to go to some poking around the Apple Developers forums - now I'm curious. Edit: Looks like the headphone jack is capable Apple iPhone headphone jack adapter pinout and signals @ pinouts.ru |

Re: New Peterson iPhone Stuff
I have 2nd iPod Touch and I had to come up with something that would work and I found this webpage. intermorphic blog external microphone and guitar audio input to iPhone, iPod touch 2nd gen - line input which I already had the "Sony Cable" so I went to Radio Crack and purchased the mono to phono plug and a coupler for a 1/4" mic my kids had. The mic worked and was able to use it. Then I plugged my guitar directly into it. It worked for one but when I plugged the 2nd guitar in it lost it signal. But the mic still works.
