Short answer ... YES - they will do ...

But - you can get it cheaper if you'd buy this stuff loose elsewhere and not in a RS-kit ... unless you'd have money to burn ... $120 are alot and the 'bumble bees' are fakes ...

The entire point of this post was to give people an alternative to just using the RS stuff. The RS stuff is a great product. Apparently, I'm not alone in thinking that the HAMER pots are NOTICEABLY BETTER than the RS stuff.

TRY them. It's a $20 investment.

I wasn't trying to promote any dealer over another. I KNEW that if I mentioned these Hamer pots the next question (from people NOT chewing on extension cords) would be WHERE CAN I GET SOME????

I mentioned BCR music because, and ONLY because, THEY HAVE THEM IN STOCK!!!

I find it interesting that the "ONE OFF" set RS made as a direct copy of the Greg Martin 58 Les Paul pots were rated at 450. Gee.....isn't that EXACTLY what the HAMER POTS ARE RATED AT????? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say THAT probably is significant.

Sorry to rant a little here but Cripes, Is BB all there???

Look at RS's own Greg Martin inspired psychebilly set. RS took Greg Martin's 58 les Paul Volume pots and had them copied. They sell them for $47. You can get the same results with the $20 Hamer pots. The one thing anyone who has played Hamers for any amount of time will tell you is their electronic parts selection is TOP SHELF. The pots are built to THEIR specs. Your original question was about the roll off with the stock Gibson pots. The hamers are so good that I now NEVER play with my volume wide open because the guitar actually has SO many different tones available through the 5-9 postion on the volume. Try 'em, you'll like 'em!
A standard $5 CTS pot should get you the same result with a treble bleed. You'll be able to use the pot from 0-10. I do it on my stock PRS all the time.

Which RS kit?

I have just pickup another Epi LP and it needs to be rewired. I am going to order one of the RS Guitarworks kits. I just don't know which one to go with, Modern or Vintage. The LP will be 99 Epi and I have a set of Gibson Burstbucker Pro to go in. I know the caps are different, so which one would you use?

Re: Which RS kit?

well the vintage one is wired in the 50s way which I prefer. But what kind of music do you play?
do you really want to put gibson pickups in it?

Re: Which RS kit?

I'd call RS directly. Paula will probably answer...she's a real Southern Belle. Ask for Billy, and tell him BB sent ya. He'll ask a few questions, then tell you exactly what you need--he's the guy that will pout your order together.

Re: Which RS kit?

I play 70's rock to some modern stuff. This is not my only guitar, I have other setup differently. I have alway just use CTS 500k pots that my local shop sold. It wasn't until I found this site that I heard of the RS site or the CTS Superpots.
I have the Gibson pickup setting on bench, so I was going to use them.
Thanks BB I will have to do that. Do you happen to know what time zone they are in?

RS is on Eastern Time.

The BurstBucker Pro's have Alnico V magnets and are wax potted. Those can be bright & harsh, but not with every guitar.

For the music you are going for, I'd suggest a Modern kit; you can get all of your cool Vintage tones with it by rolling off the Tone controls, but when you venture into Modern territory, the RS Guitarcap will not color your tone.

As long as you are buying the right kit (long shaft or short shaft, depending on the guitar) the RS kits are head and shoulders better than the stock Gibson pots and caps.

Re: Rsguitarworks

I have their kits in 4 guitars, and cannot say enough good about them. Great outfit, and their service is fantastic.

The Superpots for volume controls are great--you roll it back, and it's a smooth transition that rolls off the OD on the amp--what a concept.

I usually get the Luxe BB repro caps from them, but my last upgrade I bought caps from Jonesy here on the MLP. They sound great.

If you have questions about what you need, call them--Paula will answer most of the time, and she's a sweet heart. She'll pass you to Billy, the guy that will put your kit together--he the best, and is a killer player as well.

If you call, tell them BB says hey.

Re: Rsguitarworks

i have their kits in some of my guitars as well and the improvement was incredible. Its kinda like getting a new guitar. Takes a little getting used to when you first put it in, but once you do, ohh man hold on to something!

make sure you get the right pot length like fretnot said.
