Re: help with pickups

It's better known as microphonics. Lots of things in a pickup can cause that but the primary culprit is the cover. As a last resort wax potting will cure it.

Re: help with pickups

If you want to wax pot the pickup you can melt some candles in a glass heat-proof bowl sat in a pan of water on a stove. Don't put the wax directly on the heat as it may cause a flash fire.
When the wax has melted, turn off the stove and dip the whole pickup in. You'll see air bubbles escaping. When there's no more air coming out, take the pickup out. Remember it will be damned hot so take care. Wipe wax off the outside with a tissue and get it in the fridge quick.

Obviously the wax is going to solidify which will stop anything inside the pickup from moving around.

Just don't get that wax too hot as you'll shaft the pickup!
