Question KTS Titanium saddles, ever try them?

Ran across these KTS Titanium saddles and wondered if anyone has ever tried them, and if so any Tonal improvements like they claim on their website? Thought about maybe trying a set out but they are kind of pricey

KTS Musical Products Inc.official site-Products-

Present the purest sound of your precious guitar by using KTS Titanium Products and hear your guitar as never before!!

Re: KTS Titanium saddles, ever try them?

Hey that's good to hear Hilario, how would you describe the change in Tone from the stock saddles to the Titanium saddles? Do they make the trem smoother when you use it or keep strings from breaking at the bridge?

Re: KTS Titanium saddles, ever try them?

the change was a bit like having a tiny more high end in a good way and a slightly twangier bass.

I use it in my LP too:

same result: bell like tones with long sustain. A meagre depart from 100% historically correct but in a good way.

Have tried these in a strat. Bright and stiff. I still prefer stainless steel saddles.

I hope this is not completely off-topic.
I haven't got titanium saddles but I do have titanium posts. Can't say I notice too much difference. Certainly not as much as the mapleflame mod provided in itself .
But this bridge of yours 5F6-A .... That looks like a whole mixture of parts there. OK - KTS saddles, but are those Faber locking tops on the posts (?), ... and then what about those thumbwheels? Unless it's an optical illusion or I
am not entirely sober - they look as though they have a small 'hub' in the centre contacting the bridge body, and they also have 'cross hatch' rather than straight milled edges. Is this a heavily customised job, designed maybe to roll and tilt when using the Bigsby?
More details please! Especially of the thumbwheels and your reasons for this interesting combination of parts. Thanks.

Re: KTS Titanium saddles, ever try them?

haha.... you've got a good eye pickup.

the bridge is Faber and the titanium sadles are Faber too. I believe it was the first one/batch (proto) locking bridge that Faber made. The guitar had a Nashville bridge (long gone) but the "conversion" posts were made specifically for this guitar by a tech out of duraluminium.Unfortunately I don-t think they are comercially avaliable. When I got them I fin-tuned them by cutting, fileing and sanding the bottom of the posts to make full contact with the wood underneath. The bottom of each post is directly touching the mahogany for a beautiful tone transfer. You can hear the huge improvement acoustically.

Stiff in the sense that the notes are very focused and tight. Not that dynamic as compared to steel saddles. But that's according to my ears. I certainly did not like them as much as I thought I'd do.

The Raw Vintage Steel Saddles that Billy from RS recommended are by far my favourite. Give those a shot before you try the KTS.

For a Strat, what I would have loved would be a brass sustain block and steel saddles. Titanium... Not my cup of tea.

Re: KTS Titanium saddles, ever try them?

IMO, titanium is not a good material for saddles or nuts. It is a relatively low density metal that is not as hard as other metals that are used for guitar parts.

I have a S&W revolver that is partly made of titanium. The firing mechanism and chamber are made of stainless steel, titanium is used for other parts and covers some of the stainless.

I also have 79 tiny slivers of titanium in my prostate gland.
