These Jim Dunlop picks seem to be the perfect picks for me. I still want to get my hands on the Dunlop Tortex and Heitfield picks!

Re: New picks day!

After an average band rehearsal. These started out new which is why I buy them by the gross. Don't bother suggesting other kinds of picks, I've tried others and I like the sound, feel and cheap price of regular old Fender mediums.

I'm a Dunlop Tortex guy. .73 and .88 and I've gone as high as 1.14, which is the highest, I think.

I like the EJ Jazz IIIs. They last literally months of 4+ hours a day.

I got those ones at a pawn shop many years ago, and I've never seen anything else worth getting since then.

I also got some Herdim picks at the same time.

Ultex Sharp 1.0 for me, feels like a Fender standard but with the the nimbleness of a Jazz III.

Re: New picks day!

I bought one of these a little while back. Yes I spent 35 dollars on ONE PICK. I was curious.

It actually isn't that difficult to play with it. I havent used it a ton so I am not sure whether or not the purported benefits are actually true but its kind of an interesting item to have nonetheless. I get plenty of laughs from any guitarist that I show it to

I've always used Fender Mediums myself ever since I can remember. Last time I picked up a pack at GC I noticed they are now made in China. Gave that pack away and swore them off completely now.

No telling what hazardous chemicals they are made with now. I am sure some of you may hold them in your mouth when fingerpicking?

Replaced them with Dunlop Ultex. At least these are made in the USA.
I tried a Dunlop Tortex the other day at band practice and all the black ink in the logo rubbed off on my hands. Is that normal?

Re: New picks day!

I use the .88 Tortex (with the Sheraton) and the 1.00 Tortex (with the Black Beauty). I buy the packs of 72 at a time though. Works out cheaper and easier for me in the long run, plus it means I always have spare pics when I open my guitar case

Re: New picks day!

I use Dunlop copper picks, .009 or .010. They don't make these anymore, so they are pretty hard to find. I bought a bunch directly from them when I heard they were discontinuing them.

NPD post!?

Well damn, I thought I'd seen everything.
Next thing you know someone will be doing reissues of old picks. Then someone else will be modifying them to original specs by shaving the corners just right or something.

+1 on the 72 pack

The way I go through picks (I use the yellow Tortex.. .73 i think?), it's way more convenient to have mass amounts

plus.. If I ever need extras for others, I don't feel terrible if I don't get them back

Re: New picks day!

I seldom use picks. My fingers can control the tone with first hand tactility. Pun intended. After all, fingers are the most 'touch sensitive' picks available!

I use one made by Mojo Picks. I love it. Even got it from the same year I was born.
