How tight are your ABR1 posts??

I've bought a Faber bridge. It looks like an ABR-1 but apparently it fits Nashville posts perfectly. Well, my posts measure 3.8 mm. The holes measure 4.6 mm. I think I was expecting a better fit but it might not matter that much...

What do you think?

Re: How tight are your ABR1 posts??

That's a pretty big difference. Might put some stress on the post and it might start to bend.

You could always drill your guitar out and install Nashville bushings.

Thinking I used 4mm metric post on my LP & put 2" steel ones in. Major sound improvement but you would also need then new wheels

Re: How tight are your ABR1 posts??

It's not how deep they go in, the bend starts at the body. That's where all of the stress is. You could make them as deep as the thickness of the body and the bending point will still be at the body. They are just too thin. IMO it was a bad design by Gibson. It they were a harder metal maybe that would be the answer.
But hey, what do I know. LOL

Re: How tight are your ABR1 posts??

If they are ABR1 posts, then I'd suggest the 'Mapleflame mod' - Stainless Steel screws.

But I think 5F6-A is changing the bridge on a Nashville post? As Flick said, you might need the conversion posts.

Re: How tight are your ABR1 posts??

changed out my ABR posts to 1 3/4" steel; a bit more sustain and clarity. Especially good in my 335...I have never seen a bent one, and I use .012 and .013 strings regularly...

Wow that looks cool. I like the retaining bushing idea better than the tonepros setscrew thing. Just seems more...solid I guess.
