I don't get the problem with a Maple fretboard or for that matter a Maple neck on a Les Paul, as done by the Custom Shop. Why can't they experiment or make small runs of interesting guitars? The Class5's, the 68 reissues with Big Tops, the Killer Quilt Historics, the Flamed SG's, the Flamed Flying V's, the Summer Jams(with one piece tops) Les Paul Historics with one piece tops ( I believe 5 were made in 2007), stinger guitars, Les Paul Hot Rod, Spotlight(with Walnut stripe) Koa Les pauls, Korina Les Pauls. I could go on and on. What's the big dea;? You like it , buy it. If not don't No need to slam Gibson for experimenting or being creative.
