Hi. I'm new to the forum, so I hope it was "kosher" to start a thread like this. I am in the process of converting my Epiphone LP headstock to a Gibson one. (For all the haters, I had this Epi before I got a Gibson & then the Gibson got stolen so it's what I have to work with).

Anyway, I purchased a waterslide decal from webstore.com. Similar decals can be found on ebay. I wanted to show close up pictures so that it might help anyone who might be in the same boat. I paid $15 total. I'm totally satisfied with the size and color of the decals. However, they seem very pixelated. I'm not going to bother with getting new ones. You'd have to get very close to see the detail. Hopefully though, they (especially the mother-of-pearl "Gibson") will look better on the black background of the headstock.

I kinda like the "Les Paul": it sorta looks like the Tweed Fender puts on amps and cases. :)

Oh, you can clearly see that the "O" in "MODEL" is not rounded like it would be on a true Gibson.

Hey, its his guitar. If he wants it to look like a Gibby, thats up to him. Always kills me that on other parts of this forum guys are applauded for spending tens of thousands of dollars to make vintage replicas with Gibby headstocks. Yet when someone wants to do it on a budget its frowned upon. Its not something I would do personally but to each his own.

Thanks Andreww. Like I said in my initial post, I used to own a REAL Gibson Les Paul 1960s Classic (Goldtop) that some tool bag stole. So I know what the real deal is. I'm compromising. That's it. I'm just hoping to help anyone who might be wondering what these things look like up close.

Compromising? Your Gibson was stolen. Get over it. You own an Epiphone. Accept it.

I used to own a real Gibson SG. Now I'm compromising by owning three Epiphone SGs. I figure that three Epiphones has to be as good as one Gibson, right? When only a Gibson is good enough, sometimes good enough isnt good enough and thats good enough for me.

I had a guitar stolen, I'll never get over it. If I could, to this day, I'd still punch the f*@ker's teeth out and revel in the lovely pain running through my bloody knuckles, and I'm not really a violent person. Guitar theft is not something I just get over...

    ...

OK, I'm off my soapbox now :)

I lost a girlfriend once to another guy but I didn't try to turn my next girlfriend into the one I no longer had. I enjoyed being with her for who she was, I didn't cry over who she wasn't.

I love my Epiphone (after all I bought it, right?), but I loved the Gibson a little better if you know what I mean.

I've just never liked the Epiphone headstock. Just trying to improve upon what I've got.

what does a decal improve ?

putting a Gibson decal on an Epi is just like lying to yourself - and if you sell it eventually to others....

do you look at the headstock while playing ?

and did you really think you get much love here in the Epi-section for doing it :hmm:

sell it if you don't like it and get a cheap-ass Gibson..........

It's is stolen guitar, owned and payed for, not a stolen girlfriend. The guitar can be cut in half on purpose, or split in two by accident and simply be glued back together to look absolutely amazing. An ex girlfriend cannot.

A stolen guitar cannot be modified, regardless of if manufacturer.

Not trying to be snarky. My hat's off to anyone who wants to modify their guitar/gear.

How is changing the headstock and the name on it improving anything? It makes no difference in the quality of the guitar or the sound or playability of it.

Maybe I should stick some Ferrari logos on my Toyota Celica to make it go faster.
