I'm considering using acrylic urethane for my own designs, and basically anything that doesn't involve vintage accuracy. I've used it plenty of time on cars, and I have used it on guitars years ago, but I wasn't happy with the results. But what is the best method for a transparent finish with grain filler? Would you build up the coats with Urethane? Or is there a clear sealer that works under Urethane? I know it's thicker than nitro, but I don't want to run into lifting or peeling issues from building up to much clear. Also what's the typical recoat time? Are Acrylic Urethane's basically the same as they were 6 to 10 years ago?
