help - Avatar Speaker wiring question

Throwing some WHS green berets into an empy Avatar cab, I'm pretty sure Dave told me copper was hot. Can anyone confirm that for me please?

Thanks

Re: help - Avatar Speaker wiring question

Here's a picture of what it looks like, copper on the left and silver on the right.

Thanks

Re: help - Avatar Speaker wiring question

That's correct.....the way that's wired the hot side is the copper colored on and it goes to the + on the speaker and the silver goes to the - ....however if you reversed this on one speaker no damage would be done but the speakers would be out of phase....one would move out as the other moved in....a volume loss and a situation called phase cancellation would occur.....some frequencies would actually cancel each other out rendering them inaudible and would result in a "thin" and weak sound....no damage would be done....I've had to wire a cab in reverse because I had some strange speakers whose coils were reversed from standard and would move contrary to other speakers being used at the same time....I hope this helps

Re: help - Avatar Speaker wiring question

I remember it this way....regardless of wire color the - goes to the ring of the jack the + goes to the tip....I've had to use unmarked, uncoded wire before in a pinch.....
