Its not the reverb unit its the 20k band Multieffects Unit,
has 90 Factory preset effects, and 10 slots for your own settings all ajustable
has every effect you can think of including the much loved Harmonizer effect.
Its alot like an early PODxt in alot of ways minus the
amp settings.
Its really the best effects unit ive ever had, and have
had it since 92.
And it does have killer reverb, especialy the plate reverbs
One time i thought it fried but i just had the input and output reversed hahah

Re: Show your amp!

This one isn't mine but I have one just like it! 1972 Gibson Les Paul LP-12 2 10" horns 4 12" speakers. I've had it since 1974. The only thing that I have against it is both output caps in the power amp get vibrated loose every so often-----it is LOUD!
Closest thing to it is/was the big Sun solid state amps (from back in my day;-)

Yeah, they are getting kind of rare. Going up in value too! If you ever find one in the $700 to $800 range.... Snatch it up!

It also shocks me how those 2203 reissues are over $2k. That's just ridiculous...

Yeah, that's crazy. I got my '82 for $700 three years ago. There might still be some floating around for that price. The reissues don't sound as good either....

Yah, most of them are the horizontal input though. Unlike the 2204, the 2203 supposedly suffered some kind of tonal issue after the change. Not 100% sure though. I doubt it's anything substantial. I haven't heard any bad reviews.

I think they added diode clipping for gain on the horizontal, instead of a true all tube signal path. I could be wrong, but I think that's the deal.

When I took it down to the amp shop for inspection the guy said he was the first to ever crack it open. Not a rip, tear, scratch or hurt feeling.

The cab was 3 years old with 1 hour (or less) of playing time. Too much amp for a 13 year old in an apartment. Again, not a fuckin scratch. I got it for $400.

Ya gotta scoop up them deals when they come around.

Something like that, yes.

I've heard people say no one cared about it in the 80's until the internet let everyone know. I haven't compared the two myself, so I can't say anything.

Mine, 1982. Small, but gets the job done. Played though a Marshall 2x12 with G12-65's:

Not a big fan of the boost channel.

The thing is, since this one's my first real amp...I'm kinda attached to it. Dunno what to do.

Hey that thing is in showroom shape!!
most 1982's look like they have been in the
back of a pickup truck for 30 years.
Mine is looking pretty scragly now and its
an 88 i think.

Thanks!

Since that picture was taken, I've fixed up those 2 tolex tears and ArmorAll wiped the whole thing also so it looks pretty nice. The back of it towards the bottom is pretty mangled though, but hey, its against the wall.

What do you think of the boost channel on yours, coldsteal? I almost never use mine, its terribley flabbly sounding. For lead its OK, but for rhythm playing it just doesn't cut it. I use the normal channel and run an SD-1 to get heavy. I really like the spring reverb too.
