Peavey Windsor power tube pulling

Hey guys. I have a Peavey Windsor. It's 100 watts and there are 4 power tubes in it. Currently, I have it set at 8 ohms running into a Mesa Boogie cab at 8 ohms. Is it safe to pull power tubes out of this amp? I read a lot about people doing it with Marshalls to quiet down the amp and get saturation at lower volume. I'm having a hard time finding good instructions on how to pull power tubes and what the risks are. I know that I may lose some tone, but I just want to try it out. My neighbors hate me now. Any help is appreciated

Re: Peavey Windsor power tube pulling

pulling tubes has almost no effect on volume or saturation, i did this in my JMP 100 and it did nothing you could notice at all. I forget how to pull them, outside vs side by side but I promise you'll be dissapointed... I was

Thanks for the tip. After reading a bit more on the subject, it seems to have no effect. It seems to just increase the chance of you killing your amp.

Re: Peavey Windsor power tube pulling

Yeah, If you pull the wrong pair of tubes (it depends on which ones are set to push/pull with each other) You're gonna screw your amp. But then again, this is a Windsor we're talking about...If it gets fried, It's not like you're out of a whole lot of cash.

Also, pulling the tubes will knock it down from 100 watts to 50 watts, and the volume difference is only around 3-5dB.
