Looking for for a giggable lightweight amp for clean tones at or under $150
I'm looking for an amp for (almost) exclusively clean playing that's gig worthy for under $150...
I know perhaps that seems unlikely, but maybe? I was leading towards a Frontman 25R, but some reviews said it was giggable, while many said it wasn't. I currently have a Deluxe Reverb, but don't want to take that around on subways. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

To clarify, my band is just myself and a bassist, so we don't need to play over a drummer.
And most venues in NYC aren't that big, so reliability is what I mean mainly regarding gigable. |

I had a little Frontman, no complaints here on the clean channel.

I would try out the Vox Pathfinder 15R combo!!!!!!!! $119 new, and I can't stress how good these sound. Hell, an extra $30 and you can get the Vox foot-switch to engage/dis-engage the tremolo, and the "boost" feature!
15 watts solid state, that seems like its 15 tube watts, its just unreal. One of the only solid state amps I've played that has tube-like feel, punch, and warmth on the clean chanel!!!!!!!!!!! I'm tellin' ya, try one out!!!!!

Also, the Pathfinder has a speaker out jack, so down the road you can get a cab for more volume.
Another KILLER (BEST) option for quality versatility would be the Tech 21 TM 30 combo, look into these!!!!!!! If you can score a Roland Cube 60 for under $200, thats a great clean amp on the JC120 setting, but that amp will blow your head off with all the bells and whistles. I still maintain, try out a Vox Pathfinder, and if you don't LOVE IT for the size/volume/output, let me know. If you actually don't LOVE this amp, I personally promise you I'll punch my own balls!!!! Now thats an endorsement!!!

shameless bump
FS: inexpesive gear (all sub $200) guitars, amps, etc. the reverb on it is nice to add a bit of space to the playing and it gets loud enough to shake the walls of the house. |

How is the Vox Pathfinder in terms of clean headroom?
Giggable in small NYC venues only using clean? (no drums) Edit: I'm using a guitar with humbuckers |

Re: Looking for for a giggable lightweight amp for clean tones at or under $150
If you want a fender tone, a champion 600 will work well. It's small, light, moderately inexpensive, and it sounds good.
IMHO, i prefer it over the Epi VJ. I got mine for $125, and think its great for small gigs or practice.
