Just got my Roland Micro Cube

Absolutely the best piece of equipment I ever had!

Small enough to be a keychain item, can produce fairly good simulation of several tube amps on TV volume, neighbours will start greeting me again on the stairwell, runs on batteries and costs like a dinner for two.

I replaced my old Peavey Backstage 110 with it. My wife was so delighted with it's looks, size and low volume needed (very spouse-friendly), that we kinda cuddled over it and ended up in the bedroom... SO THIS LITTLE THING WORKS! Got me laid just 5 minutes after I turned it on!

Re: Just got my Roland Micro Cube

I second the motion, but have not quite had the reaction from the spouse that you got
I've got three Cubes and the Car Merc and all really serve the cause well.

Did you get red or black?

Your next step is a stereo Cube, they make two, and one runs on batteries too. I have that one, a Cube Street.

My next new amp, Roland Street Cube

Re: Just got my Roland Micro Cube

Too bad for the lack of response , maybe the fourth will do

Mine is black. They had red and white in the store, but this graphite black fits perfectly between my Behringer mixer and heavy desktop mic stands, all in the same color. Peeled off the Micro Cube sticker, now it's classy.

And for the next step: I'm in an apartment, so no big real amps for me. But I need valves. So I ordered this new thing called Fender Vintage Modified Vibro Champ XD. I've read only rave reviews, people drooling all over the net, like "the perfect home-recording valve amp", 5W on 12AX7A and 6V6 (Diode Rectifier) for preamp and amp, and in between they stacked a modeling section. The idea is to make tubes sing, right? There's no way I can do that in an apartment with big, proper amps. But with this baby I can It has an 8", 4-ohm "Special Design" speaker and I will immediately replace it with 10" Celestion G10 Vintage running on 8 ohms, so it'll bring down those watts even more. It'll arrive in a week, so I'll post the results.

And this Micro Cube finally fulfilled the myth that got us all started: "Learn a few chords and all the chicks will be after you", Yeah, right! It took me several hard years of smelly basements with even smellier bandmates to even get noticed...

Re: Just got my Roland Micro Cube

I have had my microcube (Red) for almost a year. I play a Les Paul
Classic with "59 Duncan pups and a Hamer Studio Custom into it.
Both guitars sound really good with the "Blackface" model and the Classic Stack one too. Which models sound the best with your guitar(s)?

Re: Just got my Roland Micro Cube

I have allways been fascinated with the entire Cube series! Last year I demo'd the Vox Valvetronix as I was totally swayed by the 12AX7 in the poweramp. The salesperson then suggested that I try a Cube out. The Cube 30x. I thought this had a better sound! With no tube! I have a 5 watt Class A tube amp right now, and thats my only amp. Honestly, this amp is so sweet (Gibson GA5), but it sounds best about a third up on volume and when people are home, its a bit loud still after a while. I'm thinking Micro-cube because it's small, cheap, and can plug in or run on batteries up to 20 hours. Play anywhere you want! on top of all this people really seem to be impressed with the sound. I just don't know if it's worth buying this at $125, or on the opposite end of the spectrum the Cube 60 at $345. Both are extremely inexpensive, one's little and can be real quiet, the other is a bit bigger (still fairly compact) and 60 watts but with the power squeezer. There are ton of threads on the Cube 60 even on the "Cork Sniffer" forums. Players describe the Cube 60 as getting 80-90% of the tone, and sound quality, volume etc that they need at 30% of the price of their main rigs. Lot's of em on their smaller gigs are bringing these along and getting great results. I'm gonna test one soon again, maybe it'll hold me off for a year or so of spending the big dough on one of the big dog tube amps I'm looking at, which is only about 10 different I'm looking at LOL! Watch for my next amp post that I'm considering..........sweet!!!!

LOL! What an amazing perk. It cranks the tunes AND gets you laid
Gotta get one!

It is a good little amp. I tried one on stage one time and was pretty blown away. It actually sounded better and had a bit more punch then my old black face Pro.
