Yay! NAD-- Vox AC50 combo

Well finally, after working a second job for a while, I managed to save up for a new amp. I have been playing out of a crate 15w SS amp for the past 6 years now so this is a big upgrade. This is my first tube amp as well and I have to say, damn, I am in sweet tone heaven. I can't wait to hear this thing with some humbuckers

You can see my old little crate up at the top and my crappy squire that I am playing until I upgrade in a couple months.

Needless to say I am more than happy with my decision. Go VOX

Sharp looking amp! I've never owned a Vox and probably never will, but they do look good.

Re: Yay! NAD-- Vox AC50 combo

A monster on the loose

I've got one of those too and they are great. Alot of clean headroom when wanted then again it can be very Marshall like. Neat thing is they can get many of those tones we look for at moderate db's , for a 50watt 2x12 that is.

Congrats !

I was noticing that last night, I can get some damn nice tones at bedroom levels which I wasn't really expecting

Re: Yay! NAD-- Vox AC50 combo

Something i forgot about is how quiet these amps are at idle . Since this is your first tube amp it might not have been all that noticable to you but these AC50 Combos are about as quiet as it get's in a tube amp, it seems to me anyway.

FWIW , i just made a phone deal on a demo amp like these and need to go pick it up. A cool guy on the internet told me about some mods he performed to his that i want to try while leaving mine stock.

I seem to buy everything in two's - whats up with that ? Sheesh

Re: Yay! NAD-- Vox AC50 combo

I wouldn't mind having another one to mod, I am absolutely loving this thing though so I don't know how much change I would need as of now. Maybe later i'll get another 2x12 cabinet with blues or greenbacks in it if I ever need more sound (which I doubt, this bad mama jama can get loud).

I definitely noticed how quiet the amp is at idle, I've tried out a lot of amps before I bought this one and this is by far the quietest. Even my bandmates super reverb that I use occasionally makes more noise than this.

I'm still just creaming over this amp, and am seriously astonished on how great in sounds at midnight when everyones asleep. This is exactly what I was hoping for

Wow really nice, how much if you don't mind me asking? I just got a AC15 and I LOVE it. My les paul sounds like heaven through it.

Re: Yay! NAD-- Vox AC50 combo

I found it online at a recording studio in Kansas for 700 shipped, new in box with warranty, he was originally asking more but when I told him that I was in Oklahoma he realized how much cheaper shipping would be and cut me a deal.

I am really starting to play with the settings now and am really impressed with this thing. I can't wait to get an lp to play out of her

Re: Yay! NAD-- Vox AC50 combo

That would be awesome, I've been trying to get my drummer to bring over his old 335 just so I can hear the amp with humbuckers but he is pretty reluctant to take it out of the house

Sweet, I saw that deal on Ebay.

I have one of them too, best thing to do is by the extension cab and go 4X12 at 8ohm. It sounds sooooooooooo good with the extra cab, and it's really not expensive.

Re: Yay! NAD-- Vox AC50 combo

I bet, I have really been thinking about that. Maybe another cab with alnico blues or something, that would definitely be down the road though, it's guitar time now If possible could you post a pic for me, I bet that looks great

And anytime you want to rockout BlackStrat just holler, I am a bass player from the get go so if you ever want to jam I'm down, and it would be kinda of cool to hear my amp with humbuckers before I get a chance to get the new geet
