I have one and I think its a great combo it will do both of those no problem, mabye add a pedal for real high gain but it really has quite a bit, great cleans, I say go for it

I use it for my main gigging amp. I must say it's a work horse! The clean channel is surprisingly good. I wouldn't say it's fitted for 'metal' per say, but with the addition of another pedal you definitely can get into that territory.

Correct, the F-30 has 2 EL84s.

Just sold my F-50. It does do metal in spades which isn't something I want personally. Very loud amp too.
