Do you need the effects on the Marshall?

No, I don't need the effects, just a good distortion sound out of my pedal to the amp.

Re: Marshall Haze 15 vs. Tiny Terror vs. Vox Night Train

Forget those you want a Blackstar Ht-5!

I've hunted out some Youtube clips to illustrate the amp -
Clip 1: talk about LP into Marshall - this is monstrous
Check Hells Bells at 3.57!

Clip 2 :showcases a few different styles.
Clip 3: - direct recording using line out: Awesome AC-DC style track.

Clip 4: Tele:gainy country recording, this has a bit of a Zep-ish vibe.

Clip 5 Strat:
Check Smoke on The Water at 2.18!

Clip 6:: Howbout some blues? and played by a top guitarist methinks.

Here is my demo
SoundClick artist: LPONE - page with MP3 music downloads
SINBLY - with Blackstar Ht5 combo - Marshall reflector - Legacy Axis 70 Ribbon Mic and Sm57 - Epi LP100 498T bridge Fatcat p90 neck rewired to 50s specs and bone nut.mp3

P.S.
Van Halen you say?

I'm not trying to be rude to you, but can you read? Does your thought process not put two-and-two together? Can't you tell that he IS NOT looking for a high-gain tone?

He apparently has ALL British amps posted up:
Vox, Marshall, Orange... How does that Krank compare to ANY of them? IT DOESN'T. Maybe it was the hands-down choice for you, but it is NOT going to be the hands-down choice for him. Why? Because he APPARENTLY isn't looking for that kind of tone. That Krank has an American, high-gain kinda sound. Not a warm, British, fat sound like those amps have.

Just calling it like I see it man. Its forum-trolls like you that post up MISLEADING information that make forums a bad place.

I just ordered a 14w Phaez daisycutter. Very Brown. Check em out. Point to point, made in Canada by Randy Fay.

Damnit! Kinda liking that Haze.

Now I'm really torn... can't decide between the Marshall Haze, Vox Night train, or the Egnater Rebel. -Gonna pick up one of those yet, just can't decide which.

Re: Marshall Haze 15 vs. Tiny Terror vs. Vox Night Train

That Haze does look pretty cool after watching the video. I hate on-board effects (on any amp), so that would be useless for me (except Reverb, that never hurts ). But, I'm sure that is a plus for somebody. And I'm sure that on-board effects are the gateway to getting real effects later.

Honestly, I think Marshall is definitely way behind on the little-amp game though. Orange came out with the Tiny Terror, what... Two years ago or more? And its STILL a hot seller? I think the TT is going to reign supreme in the little amp war.

Although if the Bad Cat Lil' 15 wasn't $1499... That kicks all of their asses.

Be sure and spend a good amount of time with the Rebel. There is A LOT of tones to find on that thing with the tube switching and such!

Simple question: why? What makes it cool?

I'm not trolling, I just want to know what excites people about these Haze amps. They don't seem in the least innovative to me. It strikes me there's a range of Brit voiced amps already out there in that power range.

What's cool about it?

Re: Marshall Haze 15 vs. Tiny Terror vs. Vox Night Train

Tiny Terror hands down

Shameless plug
If you want one quick I have mine for sale right now for a good price and its basically new. I like it so much that I am moving onto another Orange amp because the best tone is simply there and I'm ready for the next step up.

Orange Tiny Terror - Like New

Even if mine wasn't for sale I would tell you to buy the Orange, it really lives up to the hype and is the reason all the others came out with there own little toasters.

Let me know if you're ready for THE TONE

And btw I also have the BlackStar, while it is awesome on its own level its just not on the same level as the TT.

Re: Marshall Haze 15 vs. Tiny Terror vs. Vox Night Train

My biggest problem with haze head is the price, too much competiton to be asking that much for a 15 watt head, the 40 watt combo is priced allright but the 15 watt head is way overpriced IMO. My next biggest problem is the onboard effects, I think they cheapen the amp, and have such limited control that they are very useful period, i think they threw those in last minute to try and justify the blown up price. I'd go for the night train or an egnater rebel personally.

AGREED!

And I think it is cool, because it is a Marshall flavored mini-amp. That has the potential to MAYBE sound really good. Like I said, I'll have to put more thought on that subject after I play it.

For what it does and the price-point, I still don't think it will EVER be possible to beat the Tiny Terror. Who wouldn't find something to enjoy on that amp?

And its quite a bit cheaper too. The tiny terror is great but I just couldn't get by that hard top end clip when driven. No "Syrup". Plus the made in china thing bothered me a wee bit. Flame away. Yes I have a little giant, but it was only 169 bucks.

Plus I actually got to communicate with the human that is building it and discuss tone.

Not that I put allot of stock in harmony central, but because there is no marketing behind these amps...

On another forum someone had a thread about the Phaez vs. Tiny Terror and they all said the TT dominates. I can get the TT with New Ruby's and JJ's.

There was a supposedly mint TT with JJ's and a no name 2x10 CV30 loaded cab on my local CL for $275 this morning....and I missed it! Bet that thing sold as soon as it was listed.

Re: Marshall Haze 15 vs. Tiny Terror vs. Vox Night Train

I would be worried about paying that little amount of money for this expensive an amp

The tone of Orange is incomparable. If you even think you might like the TT and haven't heard one live and spent at least a half an hour milking the tones out then you owe it to yourself to go and do so. You'll be purchasing or saving up your coin right after, it really is that good. Of course thats just my opinion for the style of music I like.

Most of these amps are not meant to be swiss army amps and do everything but I have found that the TT handles its business very well.
