Best Low-Watt Marshall (or clone)?
Just got my first LP (Historic R0) in 30 years and wanted to take the Marshall plunge after being a Fender man my whole life. Looking for home use, low wattage with lots of the famous Marshall crunch at relatively low volumes. I only like tube/valve amps. I want that classic '60's - '70's sound.

For clones, check out CeriaTone.Com - DIY Guitar Tube Amp I've read nothing but good reviews.

Re: Best Low-Watt Marshall (or clone)?
The Ceriatone 36TMB, Will give you all kinds of good Marshall tones, and selectible output, 36, or it can be halved to 18 watts . its basically a Marshall 1972 which is an 18 watt all tube amp with similar circuitry to the Bluesbreaker . Ceriatone covers alot of the OLD Good Marshall circuits and does them pretty much as close as can be done with modern componets

Re: Best Low-Watt Marshall (or clone)?
Any Plexi clone with power scaling would do. If you are picky, you could also replace all the caps with vintage Mustard caps. They make difference. You can also try different values of caps based on your taste.
Or, you can just buy Fagen MiniPlex MkII. |
