Vox Valvetronix vs. Roland Cube series amps
Hey guys. just wanted to see what you guys thought about these amps. I know all the specs on them and what they offer and all but I have barely played with either, and I dont own either. I probably will snag either 30watt version for fun it a bit though. just hoping for some feedback.

Re: Vox Valvetronix vs. Roland Cube series amps
I don't know anything about the "Roland Cube", but I own a VOX AD30VT and love it. It is a great little bedroom/practice amp that can provide a hugh range of tones. The built-in effects are cool too. One nice feature on the AD30VT is a built-in attenuator so you can crank the power to the tube preamp for "tone" and keep the output to the speaker low enough not to disturb everyone else in the house... (You can pick them up fairly cheap on ebay, too.)
Here's a link for more info on the VOX Valvetronix amps: ValveTronix Presets

Re: Vox Valvetronix vs. Roland Cube series amps
I have both and use both. Either way you will rock with them at bedroom levels if you wish! The Cube 60 is often sited as the worst sounding Cube. It is just not as sweet ans the 30. The 30m has a great power reduction mode that gives you great OD tone at reasonable levels, even clean tone at reasonable levels.
I just got the Cube Street which is a stereo version with a second channel for a mic or other instrument too. Plus it is battery powered! At Namm Roland announced some new Stereo Cubes in the works too for this year. The Vox has a LOT of effects and some compromises as do the Cubes, but they all sound decent. The Vox has a real tube in the preamp , so that may be a deciding factor. The Cubes are smaller than the Vox. good luck, nothing bad in either camp really

Re: Vox Valvetronix vs. Roland Cube series amps
I picked up the Cube 60 about three months ago & I love it just as much today as I did when I first fired it up.
It's LOUD! The different amp models are all quite nicely done & the effects offer pleanty of adjustments & combinations. One thing that I really like is the fact that the Cube 60 has more than enough power to push my 4x12 Marshall cabinet & sound great in the process. I would say for the price range, you would be more than satisfied with the Cube 60. |
