Traynor YCS50?
You guys are probably getting sick of me here lately... but I'm really trying to decide on a tube amp here. I was sort of set on getting a marshall combo amp, but from what I am reading, I'm not sure they are actually as good as the price indicates? Especially what I'd be looking at (DSL401)
I came across a Traynor YCS50 for sale locally for about $600 CDN, and from what I'm reading it sounds like a great amp! Has anyone tried one personally? Would you consider it better than a DSL401 or JCM900 combo? Thanks

Re: Traynor YCS50?
Are you talking about this Amp? from what I've read it seems to be able to get some pretty high gain.

Personally, I would go for the TRAYNOR. I have a YCV40WR that I just retubed and it sounds awesome!!! If it is similar to the YCV40WR it has two levels of distortion that's foot switchable. Instead of using the ultra high gain setting, I use the first stage (less gain) on the foot switch and turn the "gain" dial on the amp up to about 8 and use a little more volume and get a really sweet sound out of it (YMMV).

Re: Traynor YCS50?
Well I went and tried it out and it rocked!! And it was in MINT shape! $575 CDN for it, and the warranty is still valid for another 18 months on it. Can't beat that!
Here are a couple quick pics of it with my LP. ![]()
