I'm Going Tubes

Yep, I finally bought a tube amp.. I was originally going to buy a Lee Jackson XLA 500, but it sold before I could buy it.. SO I found a Crate Blue Voodoo head on ebay.. Alot of people don't like Crates, but I've had alot of experience with a Blue Voodoo & I like them alot. My friend owns one, & his dad used to play in bands in the 80's & he had a modified Marshall modded by Paul Gilberts dad. He said that he liked the sound of the BV more than his Marshall.

the bv is an underrated amp, yet people in the know sing the praises of them. probably one of the better tube amps that don't get the recognition they should. the cabs are nice as well

with this thing you will be able to go from jazz to blackmetal,it is very versatile

ya I don't get why Crate has such a bad rep, their tube amps rule

crate got a bad rap because they flooded the market with really crappy solid state amps. The same with Peavey. alot of their amps get passed on because of the name. The VTM,Butcher amps are killer but don't get the recognition they should. Yet everyone and their brother goes gaga over a valve jr or blackheart which sound like crap but are cheap and are marketed to novice players who don't really have any experience with tube amps.

Tell me about it. Nothing gets more hilarious than some kid with 2 years or less experience handing out amp/tone advice and the obligatory "this amp is loud for 10 watts" and the really funny one" this amp can keep up with a loud drummer in my metal band"....uhhh, if the drummer is using some cheap pearl export kit and doesn't know how to tune his drums I might agree but the drummer I play with has a set of DW's and has 30 years of experience and knows how to tune them. I use amps with balls to stay up that kit.

I had one about ten years ago - back in my high school and early college days. I loved it.
