My new Marshall (to me anyway) arrived late this afternoon. Got her unpacked and plugged in to make sure all was well. All I can say is WOW!!! Now I know what I have been missing. Tubes are the only way to go.
It's a 2004 Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401, 40 watts and plenty loud. The guy I bought it from threw in an ATA rolling case!

I will get some photos up tomorrow.

Well done. I have a TSL-122 100w bad ass mutha rock 'n roll valve job combo amplifier. I have had it for two years with zero problems.

Thanks a bunch to everyone for helping with the decision. It was really close between this and the JVM 215. So far no regrets definitely giving me the tone I was looking for.

I have a DSL 401 as well and it has a great tone. I have received quite a few complements on my tone with this and my LP... The two of them make a great pair.

Yea i love my 401! has one of the best
clean chanels a marshall has and super
over the top high gain in the high gain setting

So today I finally had the opportunity to put her through her paces. I was really amazed at how loud it really was. Only got it to 8 before my ears were ready to bleed, and no unwanted distortion at this point. I think if I want to go louder, I'm going to need a longer cord because 25 ft was not enough. After bringing it down to a more reasonable volume, I played with the CLEAN, CLEAN with GAIN, OD1 and OD2. Sweet harmony, I was really amazed how much the guitar volume made a difference in tone, particularly on the CLEAN channel. I just never got that sensation with a digital amp.

This is the sound I have been looking for. Great amp for its size, can't really imagine how loud a 100 watter would be.
