Any Dr.Z users in the house?
I've been taunted to go try this MAZ Senior at the shop for quite sometime. I don't know a whole lot about Dr.Z other than they are a super high quality brand, and a lot of people like them.
I also sort of got the vibe that a lot of people like them for the cleans, which is a GOOD thing. I think with my next amp, I want something that has a lot of headroom with REALLY good cleans. I have found a lot of over-drive pedals that I really like the tone on, so I plan on using that as the 'dirty' channel, vs spending an outrageous amount of money for a 2-channel amp. I really like the Valve Jr, but I know this isn't gonna be a permanent 100% full-time, end all amp for me (or anybody really, it is what it is though). But, in the meantime, I am gonna spend A LOT of time finding something really amazing. At least if I don't dig the Dr.Z or anything else, I can always just get the Orange that I am in love with

Don't own one but have played several. Wished I could afford one right now but I've got one kiddo in college. Maybe one of these days, g. I thought they were nice amps... Gibsonblues..

Re: Any Dr.Z users in the house?
I was planning on buying a Marshall JTM or Bluesbreaker then I played a Dr.Z Route 66, & the Route 66 came home. Was looking at a couple of Fender Tweed R/I, & again tried a Dr.Z Galaxie combo the shop had, ordered the head version that afternoon. Recently I was in the market for a good practice amp, looked at the Blackhart, Epi Jr, Vox VT. They were all missing TONE!!!! I really wanted a Carr Mercury or the Mini Mercury but $2000.00 for a practice amp was a bit much. Plugged into a Dr.Z Mini Z & this time waited a whole 2 days before I ordered mine. I know they're not cheap (the wife reminds me of that all the time) but mates TONE is not cheap.

Re: Any Dr.Z users in the house?
I bought a Maz Jr earlier this year and I couldn't be happier with it. I tend to run mine dirty because I bought it for the killer overdriven strat sound. It also sounds great on those occasions when I do run it clean and use a pedal solely for dirt. I really wasn't ready for the fact that I would use my Les Paul with this amp so much. Running the amp with some hair and adding overdrive while playing a Les Paul is absolutely AWESOME! Go play the Z.

Re: Any Dr.Z users in the house?
Howdy,
Test drove a Carmen Ghia several years ago. It's natural power tube overdriven tone (the kind that comes from turning up the volume to high as you wail away on your ES-335!) was as good or better than my '68 Vibro Champ! The Carmen Ghia is as much fun as watching J-Lo bouncing around in a pair of tight shorts in her latest video! Wish I could afford one; I'd surely give it a workout with my Rickenbacker 360/6 and ES-335. Eggman |

Not cheap by any means, but for what they are, they can not be beat for quality/sound/price. Just flat out awesome. I LOVE the Maz 18. LOVE it!!
