Re: Wjat's The Best MIDI/Software Program To Record To My Computer?
What you are calling "MIDI/Software Program To Record" would generally be referred to as a DAW - Digital Audio Workstation:
Digital audio workstation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Strictly speaking a DAW is a recording program. The software synthesizer, which generates the tones, will run as a plug-in in the DAW. You'll need a guitar with a midi pickup, and you'll need a midi interface to get the midi into the computer. John McLaughlin has been using a Mac notebook computer in place of a guitar amp for live performance lately: Godin Guitars On his last album, Floating Point, he used the midi guitar to play sitar and flute and violin parts that sound so real a casual listener would not know he or she is listening to a synthesizer. Definitely give that album a listen. I think it's one of his best ever.
