Unusual BF Bassman on Ebay
This is the most hacked up BF Fender I've ever seen! I contacted the seller an made a low offer in the event the auction is unsuccessful.
Look closely at the pictures and try to figure out what's been done to this amp. Here's what I see: 1) Another transformer has been bolted on to the filter cap tray. It looks like a PT. 2) Cap can bracket has been added on the far left side of the chassis. Holes, but no cap. 3) Another octal tube socket was added between the existing power tube sockets. 3) Looks like a rectifier in the left power tube socket. 4) V1 preamp tube socket is missing. 5) Cap can added to far right of chassis. 6) Fuse holder has been replaced. 7) A pot has been added to the back of the chassis. Possibly MV. 8) Hole cut in cab and fan added. 9) All of channel two is missing on the front panel. 10) Toggle switch where channel 1 slide switch should be. 11) Channel one treb & bass knobs are incorrect. 12) Both chassis straps are broken. 13) Tolex ripped up. 14) Grill cloth ripped up. Have I missed anything? I can't imagine what someone was thinking when they did all of this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/230926966365?

Re: Unusual BF Bassman on Ebay
How do they call that 'good condition', when clearly it doesn't work?

Yah, I got a chuckle out of that. It's the worst one I've ever seen. I'd love to see inside. It would be a fun project. Restoring the cab would be quite a challenge.

I'd love to have that for around $100. Would be a fun project.
If the inside is in the shape the outside is in, you'd probably best just gut the thing. |

Re: Unusual BF Bassman on Ebay
10 years ago I bought and sold those all day for $250-$350... Nice ones!
I know I had a dozen of them over the years...

Yawny, considering how many of the front panel controls are missing, it wouldn't be a stretch to think much of the inside is already gutted. It's very possible there's no longer a Bassman circuit in there.

Re: Unusual BF Bassman on Ebay
I saw a guitar body on FleeBay the other day that was listed as good condition. The paint job was butchered beyond belief and dings all over. In what way it was good, I couldn't figure out.

I would love to see what's inside that thing. I can't imagine what was the intent of the mods. Thanks for the link. Mine seems to come and go for some reason.
