1996 Marshall JTM60

Does anybody own this type of Head or ever use it? Anything that I should know about pitfalls with this head. What would be a fair price for this item in good condition? Thank you.

One thing you should know about the JTM60, it is NOT at all related to the JTM45. They are two seperate amps. I've heard mixed things about the JTM60's, not much about them on the web, here's what Harmony-Central has to say about them.

Marshall JTM-60: Harmony Central User Reviews

Don't know about price, but unless you REALLY like the sound of it and you can't find anything similar, I'd stay away.

Re: 1996 Marshall JTM60

I'll say if you can get the head for $450 or less go for it. They have been going on ebay for around $600 which is a bit over priced but I think it's b/c people are starting to classify them as collectors items. I had the 1x12 combo and thought it was a great amp.

It has a marshall sound but not the 60's, 70's or 80's. It has it's own kinda unique grind. It's def 90's in sound cranked but can do blues classic rock and punk very well and actually has a decent clean channel for a marshall. It took pedals well and the fx loop was a godsend on a low priced amp. The reverb is decent at low levels too but I never liked it cranked. Many people change the tank out. There are mods out too to get it to more of a jcm sound.

I like the look of it too. Greyish green speckled with wheat grill and the tiny 6" marshall logo. Very retro. I was never a fan of the marshall black on black on gold so this stood out to me.

The biggest issue is overheating b/c of tube placement right under the pcb. I installed a computer fan to blow across the tubes and removed the stupid tube cage marshall installed and never had mine over heat or cut out.

I sold it b/c I was broke as sh!t and regret it now. You can find them on CL and pawn shops cheap still. Even GC has them on their used instrument section from time to time cheap. $95 for mine about 3 years ago at a pawn shop, $60 for cleaning and maint.
