Should I Do This
Two weeks ago I snagged a MESA/Boogie EXPRESS 5:50. I've totally fallen in love with that amp. Now, I'm having second thoughts about keeping my FENDER Deluxe "65" Reissue. I've had the DRRI almost 2 years now and have never been totally in love with it. I'm thinking about selling it off (with some of my pedals) and picking up a 5:25 1 X 12 in it's place. The 5:25 would meet my "grab & go" needs in place of the DRRI.
Would this be a sound/logical choice... or not?

Re: Should I Do This
I A/B/Y'd both amps this morning. I also brought out my MXR 10 band graphic EQ and put it in front of the DRRI. The EQ made a huge positive difference in the DRRI's tone & volume:3zone . My A/B/Y box is made by RADIAL. Doing the A/B/Y thing proved a point. I like what heard through both amps... together and separately. The DRRI probably needs to be biased a little hotter and I have no intentions of clipping the bright cap.
Even though I'm still in the "honeymoon" stage with the MESA, with the right "toys" in front of the amp, the DRRI definitely has its place in my arsenal. The one thing about the MESA is that since I've had it, my playing has improved and seems more inspired:wah. I guess that's what it's all about anyway... isn't it?! I think for now, instead of investing in another amp, I'm going to get a closed back extension cab for the MESA and invest in some "better" tubes for the DRRI and re-bias it a little hotter than the factory setting. To be honest... I tend to be more than a little "OCD" (not the overdrive pedal) about this stufff, to a fault!
