Hey guys,
i think this might be a little specific but imma give it a shot anywho. ![]() I recently joined a screamo/death metal band as the rhythm guitarist and the guys agree that since im usually a lead player i need a thicker, beefier, metal tone. Now as for pedals and pickups I'm fine, but i need some new amp settings. So what are your guys set ups ? ![]() Thanks in advance Jeremy

Re: Rhythm Metal Amp Settings ?
yeah, i play a les paul with a pair of emg-81s thru monster cables into a carvin x-100b amp and a 4x12 with celestions. since my pickups are active and my amp's got active tone controls, i just set everything on the clean/rhythm channel to 10 for that classic '90s bass crunchy cannibal corpse/suffocation-type death metal tone. the only drawback (if you can call it one) is that i gotta keep my rhythm hand on the bridge when i'm not playing or there's massive ear-bleeding feedback. i'm not really a big fan of effects (except for the dual eq, presence, and reverb that are already built-in to my amp) but i could probably use a noise gate to avoid the hassle.... lol

Re: Rhythm Metal Amp Settings ?
Drone palm muted Em power chords while dipping your mids down until you get a heavy chugga chugga sound going on, but not a hollow totally scooped tone, then attempt to raise the bass to the point where it thickens, but isn't muddy. Set the treble/presence to taste.
