Blackheart Engineering Site Expired

Have they gone under?

I cannot find anything mentioning their current status. You don't let your site go away if you are serious about staying in business.

Not totally true, as the amps sell themselves.

Maybe Crate and therefore LOUD Technologies have pulled the plug?

The site's been dead for so incredibly long. Who knows.

Haven't seen any new products from them in a while.

Re: Blackheart Engineering Site Expired

They haven't released anything new since almost the initial product launch. I won their 100 watt head when it was first released and I don't think they've released anything else since and I can't say I've seen anyone else who actually owns a BH100 which is a shame because it's a great amplifier. I know the price for them halved within the first year so I assume there was very little demand. But the low watters seem to still be popular.

Re: Blackheart Engineering Site Expired

Great products, no doubt about it.

I like the innards, thick red PCB, good components.

Like the Little Giant vs Valve Junior

Almost the same amp, but Full tone stack and a low power mode.

I own the Killer ant. Great amp. Design wise also attractive.

I think most shops still sell what's left of the initial run.

Such a shame.

Re: Blackheart Engineering Site Expired

I Like my Blackheart a lot, a very nice amp at a bargin price. I did have to do a speaker change, so that when I go above half volume it can now handle the power that the amp can put out, but a totally sweet tone comes out this amp with or without the stock speaker.

Re: Blackheart Engineering Site Expired

So.. the question at hand is this.

Is the Blackheart Engineering company going belly up, or were they bought out, or maybe just some restructuring.

I do know that you can't get the BH112 Cabinet anymore anywhere, which has been discontinued according to the sites around. I also know that one of the stores by me is selling off all there Blackheart stuff cheaper. You can get a BH5 Combo right now at RIT Music in Grand Rapids for $199 brand new.

The Epi and Blackheart amps were designed by the same person. Peter Belov.

The brand wasn't promoted nearly well enough. They had the designs, they had the sounds, they had had the ability to really push the product. It didn't happen.

I got an email the other day saying all Blackheart products have been discontinued - looks like they are kaput.

Re: Blackheart Engineering Site Expired

Bummer!

Well, at least I was able to get my cabinet before they went away, so my setup matches. It took almost 2 months for my cabinet to come in, when I purchased it this past X-Mas, so I am glad I was still able to get it. I changed out the speakers in my Combo and Cabinet, but the Handsome Devil amp is a great sounding amp.

I have a Little Giant head and matching 1X12 cab in mint condition that I'll
sell you for 3 times what I paid for it since it's now a collectors item.

Seriously, I'm glad I got one when they first came out. I love that little thing. Sounds great and built like a tank!

Re: Blackheart Engineering Site Expired

It has become a very, very competitive market the one with the small, home / studio use amps.

Example:

You can (still) have a Little Giant for 200 Euros:

Blackheart Little Giant BH5-112 - Thomann Greek Cyberstore

But If you spend a little more (298 Euros) you can get this:

Jet City Amplification 2112RC - Thomann Greek Cyberstore

and they still compete with alll the digital / modelling / hybrid stuff, which are getting better and better everyday and offer more features and possibilities. It's the survival of the fittest...

Too bad to see anyone go belly up. Bottom line is they didn't sell.

Too bad. They were one of the few companies that had a low watt push/pull design.

Re: Blackheart Engineering Site Expired

That really is a shame! I'm a huge fan of the BH-amps ever since they were released. Just got me another Handsome Devil head only yesterday, and now I have to read THIS! I wonder what went wrong, since they can easily compare to my Marshalls sondwise (only my taste and opinion, of course). What I did realise, though, is that their building quality has gone down a bit. The PCB of my BH5-112, which is from 2011, is not as accurately build as my BH5H from 2008. And the Handsome Devil I got yesterday had a Power-Tranny which was totally bent out of shape on the chasis, so that I could not remove the chasis from the box at first and had to bent the tranny back. It looked like it had received a severe blow or something... anyway, the sound is still great and the overall-quality of the components is amazing for the money you have to pay.

Well, I hope that Pjotr Belov has not given up on this kind of amps for good!

Cheers
