Re: almost NAD

5E3 modified considerably by James at Sewatt..

I got it fired up today a couple of time.. dentist app't. and such impeding my jamming!
WOW. James got this NICE!
I have a bit lower V than we wanted, so I'm swapping to Russki 6p3s-E power tubes.

My mistake was I mismeasured the location of the board by about 1/2". so a tall JJ6L6GC
just ticks the speaker magnet.
Worked out though since the Vs will fit the new tubes well anyway.

I still have a hard time.. with stuff like accurately reading a complicated schematic and then transferring that to the darn build. Nearly blew it this time.. but boy!

plenty of power/volume. really great cleans.. more fendery fat kinda beef there..
and crunchola.. rocking!

gtr. controls allow all sorts of tones just by themselves..
eats my strats and humbucks right up and spits 'em out whole.. you'd think I could actually play!

I'll get a faceplate on there and some labels.. cute it all up a bit.

I am really happy with this amp.

Re: almost NAD

Still have to make a nice control panel.. white pearl with black labels comin' up.

Changed it a bit. Put the bright cap on a switch upfront.
I think I'll change it again.. so I have off, bright, and mid boost bright.

Man I like it!

Re: almost NAD

Looks kickass, Twang, and the description sounds wicked.

How did you do your logo, and how are you doing the faceplate? My motives for asking are 100% self-serving

Re: almost NAD

I used regular pickguard material and decals I print up on the printer.
It's three ply white pearl.

The control plate will also be white pearl.. with tortoise shell end parts..
tort from left end to the middle of the space between switch and lo input...
then white pearl to the space between the bass pot and the jewel.. then tort to the end.

the rear panel will be in parchment.

Re: almost NAD

Now with marshall knobs.. soon to come cream pearl control panels.
might add more gold stuff on the panel, too.
trying to do one full size water slide decal. cover the whole front panel.. then spray it with clearcoat.

going to use this covering on an amp I'm building..

my fave overdrive.
