Speaker suggestions...
I am about three weeks out from the first phaez railgun ( a dc 10 based amp with an added preamp tube and extra circutry to sound like an afd 100). Which speaker would best compliment this type of hot rodded Marshall voiceing?

Re: Speaker suggestions...
I am putting an Eminence Wizard and a Governor in my setup, to give me a great british tone that stays tight with some bottem end and gets some nice highs and mids as well.

Checking out the different speaker offerings from Warehouse speakers: Warehouse Guitar Speakers | Warehouse Guitar Speakers would be worth it. Great speakers and a great price. They can help you select the speaker you want too.

I love my Scumback. You should look at their Blackbacks:

Re: Speaker suggestions...
I did a speaker test yesterday with a Marshall JTM and a few speakers I had laying around.
I ended up sticking with the Vintage 30, but had to admit that the Eminance Manowar had better dynamics. It stayed true to the British sound as well. |

Re: Speaker suggestions...
I usually start with a pair of broken-in Vintage 30's when auditioning a tube amp. That's still my go-to speaker for Marshallesque amps. I'm also good with an Eminence Tonker or a Texas Heat. And finally, if you don't mind a bit more clean, check out the Eminence Delta ProA, a 16-pounder that will remind you of the EV-L.

Re: Speaker suggestions...
To be honest with Marshall type amps i would use a British voiced speaker. The main options are;
Alnico G12 and clones Greenback G12M and clones V30 and clones I have two 2 x 12 cabs. One loaded with Weber British alnicos ( darkish, chimey, clean, rich, laidback, velvety...) And one with a Tayden Greenback clone (jangly, alive, clear, crunchy, controlled low end, 60s 'hippy', hendrixy tone). I don't really like V30s...
