No more love for the marshall 1974x
Hello everybody
I'm Raf from Belgium Europe and i'm gassing for a 1974x, playing a gibson les paul cr8 and a fender 62 vintage reissue strat thrue a handmade ab 763 circuit head and 2x12 cab loaded with jensen blackbird/tornado speakers also got a jvm205 head missing a good celestion loaded cab. For the moment i'm into a 1974x due to the grab and go amp for little gigs (mic'd) and rehearsels. Only thing that would bother me is that there's no reverb on board. Should a dunlop carbon copy do the thrick to add a little defenition. Im used to ride a 65 reissue deluxe reverb wich i sold to purchase a Fad amp ptp (blackface clone) wich is great just to big to handle everytime head and cab you know. Do you 1974x users also tried the 1974cx cabinet and did you swap the speaker out? I'm a blues player fyi think bloomfield, clapton, greeny, gary moore etc.. So tell me and show me your 1974x |

Re: No more love for the marshall 1974x
You can set a delay to a very short decay time, something like 30-100ms and it will sound like a Reverb, cause that's essentialy what reverb is. A very short delay. This also means, that you can get away with cheaper delay's.

Re: No more love for the marshall 1974x
i occasionally use a boss dd-3 to add a little thickness to leads. functions perfectly for that and can be had for cheap.... so basically +1 to Syrus

Re: No more love for the marshall 1974x
Rafke, Welcome to MLP.
I have a Carbon Copy and a Boss DD-3 on my pedal board with slightly different settings. Either one can be used to fatten up the sound similar to reverb. I put them both on the board to compare and decide which one to go with. They both have their merits and I still can't decide.

Re: No more love for the marshall 1974x
The only thing that stopped me from buying a 1974X was that there was no effects loop.
How well will the amp sound with a delay up front? Do they take pedals well?

Re: No more love for the marshall 1974x
Thanks guys,
I had a 2061x also and sold it and i regret it since, only thing that was annoying is that you could change your sound also with the knobs of the other channel... took some time i got that wright ![]() Had it over a 2 x12 with jensen speakers and it sounded like c..p. Now i'm going for a 1974x with the extension cab and put a gold or blue alnico in it if i first sell my jvm 205 head (to much options )
