peavy classic 30- at bedroom/garage levels?

I am taking a look at the peavy classic 30 (I filled out the questionaire earlier-amp suggestions by rlammjr) per a members suggestion. I have no place to go play it, so for those who know, how does this amp sound at low volumes? It sounds good opened up in the videos....
thanks

Re: peavy classic 30- at bedroom/garage levels?

I had the same needs as you. I recently bought my C30, and I'm thrilled with it.

I can run the volume low enough to not bother my wife, who is watching TV only 15 feet away in the same room.

Sure, turned up is more fun, but this sounds good to me at any volume. That said, I don't have much use for the gain channel. I prefer the clean, and a pedal.

Nothing wrong with the gain, I just never use it.

I had a Bugera v22 that had a more usable gain channel, at low volumes. Great amp for the $, but I don't miss it, now that I have the Peavey!

And.... The way I bought the C30, I put a WTB ad on craigslist, with a price of $300, and hoped to find someone who wasn't using theirs, but was too lazy to list it. Took a couple of weeks. Worth the wait.

Re: peavy classic 30- at bedroom/garage levels?

I play my C30 mostly in the living room, and while I don't have to worry about how loud it is, I still don't like it too loud when I'm in a room that size. I usually play at moderate levels, but even when I turn it down low, the tone is still great. Some days, I take it out to the garage (24'X24') put the amp in the middle, on a table and turn it up all the way. I then stand outside the walk-in door to the garage and it sounds great. It gives off a real nice natural reverb.
For me, the key thing to having the C30 sound good, is to always have a clean boost coming in the front end, high or low volume.

It sounds very good. You donīt have that speaker spitting the pressure out, but you can have a very playable tone ate really low volumes. Itīs one of the bests overall amp out there.

nauc's post reminded me.... we've talked about this before:

(Don't let the thread title fool you)
NAD - Blackheart BH15H (head)

so, is the Peavey Classic 30 still a top bang for the buck tube amp

Nauc, I've always appreciated the simplicity of your rig. I mean, what else do you really need? Congrats on not evolving into a GAS-stricken gearhound like the rest of us!
