Finding parts online

Finding electronic parts on the big online stores (e.g., mouser, digikey) can be difficult. Last night, I spent a few hours searching mouser and digikey for the resistors, capacitors, and potentiometers from my last build (a kit), but I didn't find everything. The search was more time consuming on digikey because the back button didn't work on my browser. So once I found a resistor of a particular value, I had to hit the 'search again' button, which took me back to the initial parts index rather than the smaller list of resistors that I had already found.

I could use some help finding the following items on the mouser site. If you know the popular brands, that would help narrow my search too:

- the usual 5W resistors used in the power supply. The white, rectangular ones (ceramic, I think, but the sites also list them as wirewound and metal film).
- the standard alpha pots with round shafts. Mouser lists quite a few as obsolete and not available at the moment.

That's all for now...

Re: Finding parts online

Mouser and Digikey are great sources and I've bought my share of parts from them. However, I buy about 90+% of the small stuff (resistors, caps, pots, diodes, etc.) I need from Weber.

Re: Finding parts online

Thanks Jim and Don.
It looks like Parts Express has comparable prices (a bit higher than mouser and digikey, but not too bad).

Don - do you know if the weber prices for the small parts are comparable to the prices at mouser and digikey?

I know that there are scads of online shops to order from, including mojotone, aes, watts, granger, etc. However, I suspect that the prices at these sites are higher than at Mouser, Digikey, and possibly Parts Express. Am I wrong?

Also, since I am in Canada, it would be ideal to find a shop that has good shipping deals to Canada or ships within Canada...
