Re: R.I.P. Jim Marshall

RIP Mr. Marshall!

Like Mr. Polfus, I've never read or heard a bad word said about him! I read his autobiography, too. He really was quite a man.

I wonder if we should lay off the drummer jokes for a while...

RIP Jim. He took a lot of ears with him, and I'm sure his amps will continue to deafen generations to come.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Marshall

RIP, Sir,

You put the crunch in Rock and Roll. I too have never heard a bad word about him. He definitely changed the R&R scene.
Now go find Leo and Lester.

Re: RIP Jim Marshall

I will say what I think!

RIP, a leader is just that.
Although Jim was not an amp builder himself he led and hired the best that could carry out what became the Marshall name.
How can anyone deny what became the sound of rock?
Sure I'm a "Fender guy" but when designing my own tones I look for overdriven Marshall as my guide.

RIP Jim, you left a mark I will never forget!

A true legend in his lifetime and now beyond. A sad day indeed, rest in peace Jim and God bless you sir. Thank you for providing those classic rock tones, long may they continue to fill our ears and our hearts.

Re: RIP Jim Marshall

Thanks Jim

I have been a Marshall guy since 1977 and Les Paul's & Marshall's have made most of my favorite music. Now I am going to crank my new Class 5 for some good Marshall growl.

RIP JCM.
We will miss you.

As a 20 year old punk back in '91 I sent Jim Marshall a birthday card cuz we share the same birthdate (July 29th) I was floored when he responded, he sent me a birthday card (signed) a book of the History of Marshall (autographed) and a couple of tee shirts...I was completely floored! I couldnt belive that the legendary Jim Marshall took the time to write me. He cared about the small people, as much as he cared for the famous people. I will forever be greatful for his kindness, and to that I proudly play a power chord salute in his honor. RIP Jim Marshall!!

RIP Jim

Music has lost one of many great & gutsy innovators and is poorer for that.

Thank you James Charles Marshall

Re: R.I.P. Jim Marshall

Very sad when I heard this news today. I threw my amp to 11 in tribute! (I have a fender blues deville, goes to 12) But as I was thinking today, two of the greatest names in electric guitar innovation (playing and equipment wise) share the same name.
James Charles Marshall
James Marshall Hendrix

I bet we'll be able to hear them jam from down here.
