Blackstar HT-20

So the Blues Junior III isn't for me ;/ I decided that I'm going to get Blackstar HT20 combo instead. Gonna play some clean stuff, blues and classic rock. Guitar is a Classic Player 50's stratocaster. Any thoughts, remarks about this amp? How does it sound on lower master volume settings?

Re: Blackstar HT-20

I haven't played the 20 but I have the HT40 and I love it. This thing blows my mind every time I play it. Sold/Selling my other amps and sticking with this one.

Re: Blackstar HT-20

The HT40 is a tiny bit more expensive than the HT20 but has those nice voicing switches... But I guess it would be way too much for home practice, right?

BTW, does the ISF and EQ work on the clean channel, or is the tone knob the only control affecting it?

Pulled the trigger, the amp is gonna be here soon. I hope it works out better than the Blues JR...

I don't think they work on the clean. I use this amp at home with the extension cab connected also upto about 1/4 volume and it sounds great. I'm sure you will be happy with your 20 also.

Re: Blackstar HT-20

Thanks! I found this demo and I was sold Great tones and playing. If my strat sounds anywhere close to the one in the vid then I can die happy!

Re: Blackstar HT-20

Both HT20 and HT40? Ain't that too much goodness for one guitar player?!

Re: Blackstar HT-20

I have the HT 40. EQ and ISF controls only work on Channel 2. Even so, the one tone knob for the clean channel really works out just fine.

I love my HT40, even more so with an EQ in the effects loop and Tung Sol 12ax7 preamp tube in V2. A speaker swap would be nice too but not necessary by any means.

I usually play with the master volume around 1/4, like AZPaul said he does, though lately i've been cranking it a lot more!

Have you other BS owners done any mods? Thoughts on them?

Re: Blackstar HT-20

Got the HT 20 Combo. It's awesome, although I never played a Strat through it and I can really recommend it.

Only comments are:

- The overdrive gets very overdriven really early. Turn gain over 4 and it's too much for me.

- The knobs are hard to see if you keep the amp on the floor. You need to get down on your knees to see the settings. Miss my old Fender in that respect. But - I guess once I get used to the knobs & settings this problem will go away...

Re: Blackstar HT-20

I use 57/62 pickups and they're of the lower output variety so I guess that it's good to have some gain available on tap

And about those knobbies - aren't you a little too picky? :P I use a home-made amp-tilt mechanism - I stuck two medication boxes filled with paper underneath the front of the amp

Yeah, maybe I am ..... This will go away, I'm sure. But having them on top like on the Fender has it's defintive advantages....

But - it's a great amp. I really love it. And I'm sure you will too.... Congrat's!!!

Re: Blackstar HT-20

I have the Blackstar HT Soloist 60 and love it. There are so many different tones I can get and the clean channel is fantastic.

Thought the 60W might be too loud for home practiace/bedroom playing but its been working out just fine.

I have the addon 12" open back cabinet with it and it melts my face off at higher volumes.

The HT-20 is perfect! at full volume it's insane. I loved it through a fender start too
