Re: Amplifier speaker changing?

Any 12" speaker rated at or close to 60 watts should work, and you'll also want to match the original speaker's impedance. That should be written on the back of the speaker. As for specific makes and models, that depends on the sound and response you want - and budget.

Re: Amplifier speaker changing?

I'm no speaker model expert, and there are a TON of possibilities. Maybe one of the gurus here will chime in on this.

A J.B.L. wd do for me, however ( and I hope I've answered your Q. ) but also, while I'm here,- I've been trying to find the ask question button, no luck ! But if anyone is kind enough, can you tell me the reason why my tube amp has develloped a quiet, high pitched background warbling sound, tubes maybe ? much appreciated, thanx everyone.

Redben - You are not going to get a "tube sound" out of the RG60 just by changing a speaker, as it is a solid-state amp.

With that said, you may improve (or change) the sound of the amp with a different speaker.

I've had good results with WGS speakers and their website has pretty good sound clips for you to compare. Even better, they are great people and will give you good advice if you call or e-mail them. It is a bonus that most of their speakers are very reasonably priced, as well.

Good luck in your search, you should try to at least listen to clips to see what you like in a speaker, as this is very subjective. And it will be related to the sounds you are trying to produce, and the amp itself, so you will have to take a leap to find out.
