First peek at the Landry Amp...

I got this pic of the prototype, but they are taking pics of the production model this weekend.

I should be going over next week to check it out, and will try to get more pics as well.

Re: First peek at the Landry Amp...

Ya--clean channel drives like a Vibroverb, OD like a Plexi/JCM800--it also has another gain stage you can click in.

Re: First peek at the Landry Amp...

It's going to sell for $2500, but you never know if he'll offer a special.

What about if it was for a well-known local musician who is looking for say... Endorsements!? lol

Like, I use it for awhile and give it back? Free? At cost?

Oh...you're the local, well-known musician? LOL, sorry--couldn't resist...I can ask, but it's not likely.

lol

Probably not to the older group of player... But amongst other local musicians my age. Yes. Yes I am. My three week old band page has accumulated over 4,000 (btw, our counter is messed up, our plays don't correlate at all) views and 2200 plays if that counts for anything (and we haven't even begun gigging yet... Just wait). Sheer MySpace traffic promoting his product from my page would be a great thing for a new, local company like his.

I know it isn't likely, but man... If there is any way at all that I could manage to work my way into a good, show worthy amp right now... I would do it. I'd even sweep floors around his shop or something. I ended up lossing my job because of school this semester and my jobs inability to give me shifts to accommodate it. So there goes my dreams of just working and getting nice gear as I can (like I did with my Tele).

I'm going to end up in a shit job for the remainder of school. I can feel it now.

Re: First peek at the Landry Amp...

Sorry to hear about the job--that sucks. School does take priority though.

There are some great amps out there that cost much less than $2500...I'd get one of those.

Re: First peek at the Landry Amp...

I can't wait to check this amp out. I currently have a Marshallish amp but am always looking for the next best thing. Maybe Landry wants a local guy to do some real world testing? I have some good gigs at big rooms coming up if he'd like a lot of people to see the amp in person. Hmmm! Just kidding I think... If the amp is as good as BB says, it will be a winner!

It sounds great. The clean channel reminds me of a blackface Fender...with a Strat it gets that SRV kinda vibe. Roll the guitar's volume back, and you could play jazz on it.

The OD channel sounds like a hot-rodded plexi, and gets to JCM800 territory.

Kick in the additional gain stage and it almost gets to Metallica...not quite there, but close.

Tons of low end, and it's got a sweet, lush reverb.

Also...the front panel is velcroed, so you can easily get to the pre tubes for tube-swapping. He designed it for guys like us that do that kinda thing.
