fender mustang presets

just got the amp and love it. one thing that bothers me a bit about using it though is flipping through all the presets that i dont like while trying to get to the ones i do like. is it possible to delete some of them and just keep the ones i like? also is it worth going online and downloading some of the available ones? mine is the mustang III.

would love to hear your favorites for everything from classical to metal.

Of course. However, it's not that you can delete them, but rather you can move them to where you want. Figure out which ones you like best, write down the order you'll want them in, then save those to the lowest preset banks. You'll probably have the easiest time doing that through the Fuse software, on your PC. It's going to take a bit of time to do all that, but once you have it done, you'll be golden.

Re: fender mustang presets

I've used some modelers with banks gear, including Mustang II, and found that mainly use three or four banks most of time so, using FUSE you could fine tune first 10 banks and just forget about other 90...
A good thing about Mustang III is you can rename your bank to easy identifying, on Mustang II you would have to remember where you save it.

thanks for the info. i have the software installed already just gotta figure out how to use it. i was starting to think i'd need to get the 4 pedal switch and just pick 4 presets to assign a button to.

other than too many presets my only complaint (probably user error) is every time i click the button to switch to the next preset it also resets the volume which is way too high for my liking so every time i switch presets i have to adjust volume. i also need to figure out how to not use a preset. they are great but i'd really like to take a crack at just the amp i paid for and see what i can coax out of it with just the knob rather than having it pretend its some other amp "hooked up" to virtual pedals.

i will say im happier with this amp purchase than i am my line 6 pocket pod purchase. i cant even begin to understand the software it comes with or even how to navigate the menu's on the pod its self. it does sound great as a headphone amp though like i wanted it for even with crappy ipod earbuds. guitar center did well by me on the amp, bought as used with a 4 star rating and it looks brand new. the pod however bought used they gave it a 5 star rating but when it came it didnt come with any paper work, usb, software, and the battery door is broken. they had the door taped on the back yet still gave it a 5 star rating while a like new amp that they could have passed off as new got 4 stars?

another idea is as i understand it there is a place where people can upload their presets and share them with freinds and it seems the mustang amps have quite a following here so it would be great it we could some how create a group to share presets.

i like having the space for extras and i think i can still add a ton to the 100 it came with but i just want to make it easier to navigate because i'd like to find presets to emulate certain guitarists/songs untill i learn how to better create them myself. so even if i can have the 100 pre loaded and 100 or however many of my own i just need to make it easier to navigate and find the ones i'll actually use. there are alot of good ones on the amp already but it seems very repetitive many sounding so close to 5-10 others that its not worth having 90% of them

i still may get the 4 switch pedal

seems overwelming but i just gotta tell myself i can get it figured out and make the features work for me instead of against me. if i can teach myself photoshop i can do this

Re: fender mustang presets

Yea, I just run the Fuse software, click to save a preset and change what number I want to save over. I have about 30 presets setup now, of which like 8 or 9 I use a lot and the other's are just for a particular songs. I am working on the Creed Higher presets right now, 1 for the clean and 1 for the dirty.

The 4 button switch is still a nice thing to have. You can configure it to use specific presets or you can have it turn individual effects on and off within the presets (like a pedalboard). You can use the 2 button and 4 button switches at the same time, also.

In regards to your volume issue, it's not user error. Like most modeling amps that I've ever played, the presets are such that they're all over the map in terms of volume. Like what you were talking about before, you just have to spend some time and get them to where you want them. Just like a non-modeling amp, when you boost the level on a pedal or turn up the gain or volume, it will get louder, regardless of where the master volume is set.

Finally, as for the amp itself, you need to understand what the Mustang series of amps are. They're modeling amps; there is no amp without the presets. The modeling isn't something that you can turn on and off.

Re: fender mustang presets

i am having a hard time getting rid of the presets i dont like i wish i could delete them instead of having to overwrite them. if i could just delete them as i went through and came across something i didnt like it would be so much easier.

Just replace them with a Basic Fender Deluxe Reverb or Twin Reverb with no effects or anything just a plane jane. So when your switching through the ones you did not like before, it will be just a basic Fender sound. It would sort of be like you deleted them.

You have 100 banks available and they have to be occupied by something, hence why you can't simply delete them out of existence.

What you need to do is go through the amp, write down the ones you like, and put them in those early banks by saving it with a new number. Once you've done that, you won't need to access the upper banks, and it'll be like what you're wishing the amp was like.

Re: fender mustang presets

i guess i should have updated. through some searching on the fender lounge forums i found a program a member created there that lets you create a backup of all your presets in fender fuse (pre v2.4 only) and then open the backup with this program and drag n drop presets where ever you want.

i've been playing with the amp hooked up to the pc and renaming the unwanted presets to "delete" as i find them and moving them to the end of the list and filling them with downloaded presets and arranging them where i want them after i decide if i want to keep it or not.

i've started ordering them something like this:
specific band/song presets
effects heavy presets
clean presets
basic amp model presets
new presets on trial period
presets to replace

i am wanting the 4 button foot switch more and more. unless i'd memorize everythings order or trying each till i find what i want i gotta look at fuse or sit super close to the amp to see what number im on. the footswitch has big red digital display showing the preset number and quick access to more favorites.
