My new "to me" Fender "The Twin"... YIKES!

So a friend of mine says this amp is pretty darn good, I've heard him play through this amp before and I agree. Last week I found one for sale and it is darn cheap too. I go and see and listen to the amp, sounds good but a 1/4 inch jack is broken and so is the volume pot on channel one, doesn't worry me, I can fix this stuff in my sleep so I buy it. Yikes look what I found...

Aside from this, two of the installed tubes were incorrect, one 12AX7 had a broken envelope.

Now instead of an easy repair I've got to take a serious look at why this amp is such a mess.

Wish me luck.

Looks like someone's failed project! Why don't you take it back? Assuming of course seller didn't mention it's issues beforehand.

Re: My new "to me" Fender "The Twin"... YIKES!

Ya know... I shoulda known something was up when he demo'd the amp on channel 2, he said it was because the volume pot and 1/4" jack on channel 1 was broken.

Funny thing is, despite everything channel 2 sounded great.

I'll keep the amp cause I got it cheap, and I don't mind having a personal project to work on, but next time I'll have to look a little closer at what I'm purchasing.

I'll post what I find and the eventual outcome.

Thanks for looking in.
