Fender fm412 or Marshall mg412
Hey. Has anyone used either of these cabinets? I see a couple going on my local craigslist. Is eithrr one worth the 100$ they're selling it for? Are the tones ok? Or even the speaker quality? Or should I keep my current 212 rigged Marshall and wait until I can come across a 1960a? I'm using an orange tt head and my main guitars are a strat and an SG...

Anyway, I'm curious about the MG412 as well. Cheap in my neck of the woods as well (a minty one is on CL for $125), but I can find little info on the speakers. Most sites just say "speciality Marshall designed speakers." That usualy translates to "custom low tier speaker." Later, Chrome... |

Re: Fender fm412 or Marshall mg412
the frontman cab is a 4 x 12".speaker quality is ok I've had 3 fm 2x12 combos and really the cab & speakers were the best part of it all..not sure how they'd run with an orange head though.
not sure what the marshall has but there's always a speaker swap and you can't really build a cab for $100 can you? |

Re: Fender fm412 or Marshall mg412
Well. If I was to build a cab/ put my own speakers in, there's an unloaded 1960a from a jcm900 available for 200$. I'd get that and load it with v30s if anything. I have a feeling the Marshall would prob have those "gold" speakers in it. Which are pretty shotty in my opinion. I have converted valvestate s80 that i rigged to be a 212. It has g12-t speakers in it. I'll stick with that until I can sell some stuff and just get the 1960 lead.
It's only like. 400... |

I have an MG412. Yes it does have low quality speakers in it, but really, it's not that bad. It's reliable and sounds just fine.

Eh. I want good quality speakers. I'm hoping to play out and I want something that will deliver a good quality sound with the band. Not trying to be picky or anything, I just rather get what I want the first time. Instead of having that feeling like I wasted my money. Lol.
